Akresha is as much about the journey as the end product. The process of creating the work intrigued me, but why I created it is possibly more interesting and relevant.
Akresha was written a number of years ago, with no intention to publish, it was my first attempt at writing a novel length piece of work. More of a practise, if you wish, but I re-read it and carried out some minor changes; then left it… for quite some time.
Later, much later, I looked at it again and a good friend suggested that I should publish it so here started the long and often convoluted journey from rough manuscript to a polished piece of publishable work.
I must admit that the length of time taken was purely down to me and not Beaten Track Publishing, who were bluntly, marvellous and very accommodating of my lack of initial enthusiasm to carry out the necessary changes. But that does bring me to why I wrote it in the first place.
As I said, Akresha was a journey, It involved a lot of changes for me on a personal basis as well as a steep learning curve in the publishing world. I am still on the curve and will be for the foreseeable future but the personal side is over. I like to think that I have evolved from some very dark times to the person (and writer) that I am now. Akresha was the start of that evolution and my sincere hope is that it will not be the end of it.
Adieu
